L'incompatibilisme à la Frankfurt

Résumé : David Widerker a été l’un des principaux critiques des contre-exemples à la Frankfurt au principe des possibilités alternatives (PAP), principe selon lequel un agent peut être l’objet d’un blâme moral pour un acte seulement s’il pouvait éviter d’accomplir cet acte. Dans cet article, il présente sa nouvelle position au sujet du PAP en développant un nouveau contre-exemple au PAP, suivi d’une conception du blâme indépendante de la notion d’évitabilité (AI-BL) qui implique la fausseté du PAP.

Abstract: David Widerker used to be one of the main critics of Frankfurt-style counterexamples to the Principle of Alternative Possibilities (PAP), i.e., that moral blameworthiness for an act requires that the agent could have avoided performing the act. In this article, he presents his new position concerning PAP by developing a new counterexample to PAP, followed by an avoidability-independent account of moral blame (AI-BL) which entails the falsity of PAP.
